NATIONAL PRESIDENT

Victor was born on 6th June, 1963 in Sapele, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. He joined the service at the defunct Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of the then Federal Ministry of Transport as Air Traffic Control Assistant (ACA) on 1st January, 1986.

He attended St. Peter Clever’s College, Aghalokpe where he got WASC ‘O’ Levels certificate in 1985 and later graduated with Post Graduate Diploma in Transport Planning in 2008 from Lagos State University, Ojo. His professional trainings include ATC Ab-initio at the Meteorology Training School, Kano in 1986; Diploma in Standard ATC course from Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria in 1994; Diploma in Area/Airways (non-radar) Control at NCAT, Zaria in 2005; Certificate in Air Transport Planning, Operations and Management at NCAT also in 2005; Certificate in AFI RVSM & CNS/ATM (NCAT, 2006); Diploma in Terminal Radar Control & Team Resource Management at ATNS, Johannesburg South Africa in 2006; Certificate in Area/En-route Radar Control at obtained PAN AM International Flight Academy, Miami USA in 2007 and Search Mission Coordination at United Aviation Academy, Cairo Egypt among others.

He passed the ATC licensing exams in 1996 with Aerodrome and Approach (non-radar) ratings. He also got the Area/Airways (non-radar) and Terminal Approach Radar ratings in 2005 and 2009 respectively with Area/En-route Radar rating in view. He has worked at various ATC units in Kano and Lagos, he is presently a Deputy General Manager at Lagos airport as a terminal approach radar and area (non-radar) controller.

He was NATCA’s Lagos Zonal Vice President between 2002 and 2006, National Deputy President from 2006 and 2012 and became the National President in October, 2012. He is married with children.

EYARU, VICTOR AKPOBARO

He was born on 21st December, 1968 in Maiduguri, but hails from Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, Nigeria. He has his first contact with the ATC profession when on 6th November, 1998 he was employed as Air Traffic Controller grade II at the old Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria after obtaining Diploma in Standard Air Traffic Control at Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria. His formal education include Ordinary National Diploma at Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri in 1988; Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) in Agro-meteorology from University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 1994.

He also obtained M. Tech. in Meteorology in 2004 from Federal University of Technology, Minna. He was also trained as professional Air Traffic Controller in Area/Airways (non-radar) Control at NCAT, Zaria and Terminal/Area Radar Control at PAN AM International Flight Academy, Miami USA in 2008 and 2010 respectively. He obtained his ATC License on 18th February, 2000 with both Aerodrome and Terminal Approach (non-radar) Control. He later obtained ATC ratings in the Area/Airways (non-radar) Control in 2011 and Terminal/Approach Radar Control in 2012. He has worked at various ATC units in Abuja, Minna airports and presently an Assistant General Manager at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja Lagos as Terminal Approach radar and Area Controller.

He was NATCA’s Abuja Zonal Vice President between 2003 and 2006.He was elected National Deputy President in October, 2012. He is married with children.

HYELNI, HARUNA BASSI

He joined the service as Air Traffic Controller Grade II on 12th February, 1993 at the defunct Federal Civil Aviation Authority (FCAA) after obtaining Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) degree in Physics Electronics at the Federal University of Technology, Akure in 1990.  He was born on 20th May, 1969 at Otun-Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria.

He attended Moba Grammar School, Otun-Ekiti between 1979 and 1984 before proceeding to the Federal University of Technology, Akure. He also obtained Post graduate Diploma in Information Technology at the Centre for Computer Engineering of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.  Trainings in ATC and other related areas include Diploma in Standard ATC from NCAT, Zaria in 1995; Certificate in Stress Management, May 2002; Certificate in Search & Rescue Basic Response in July 2002; Team Resource Management in July 2004; Diploma in Area/Airways (non-radar) Control (NCAT, Zaria 2006); Terminal & Area Radar Control at PAN AM International Flight Academy, Miami USA in 2008; Certificate in Project Management, July 2011 and Basic PANS OPS (Procedure Design) at Global for Aviation, Cairo Egypt in October, 2011.

He was licensed as Aerodrome and terminal Approach (non-radar) Controller in August, 1997; Area/Airways (non-radar) in February, 2008; Terminal Approach Radar Control in October, 2012 and Area (En-route) Radar Control in view. He has worked in Lagos and Owerri airports as Aerodrome/terminal Approach (non-radar) controller; Assistant General Manager, Headquarters of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Lagos and presently works at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja Lagos as Terminal Approach Radar and Area/Airways (non-radar) controller.

He was NATCA’s Lagos Chapter’s Chairman between 2006 and 2012. He was elected National General Secretary of the association in October, 2012. He is married with two children.

OLAWODE, JOSEPH ADEBANJI

He was elected Assistant General Secretary of the association in October, 2012. Born at Akupal in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State on 28th December, 1968, James joined the service of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency as Air Traffic Controller Grade II on 18th April, 2000 after the completion of the Diploma in Standard ATC course at NCAT, Zaria. He was licensed as Aerodrome and Terminal Approach (non-radar) controller in November, 2001.

He attended Government Secondary School, Malumfashi where obtained the WASC ‘O’ Levels certificate in 1988, B.Sc. in Geography from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1992 and M.Sc. in Geographic Information Service (GIS) from University of Lagos in 2003. Apart from the initial training in Air Traffic Control, he underwent other trainings such as TCAS course in July, 2003; Stress & Threat Management for ATCOs in August, 2004; Diploma in Area/Airways (non-radar) control at NCAT, Zaria in June 2011 and Search Coordination Mission at United Aviation College, Cairo Egypt.

James, an Assistant General Manager has worked at Murtala Muhammed airport and presently in Jos airport as Aerodrome and Terminal Approach controller. He is married with children.

DODO, JAMES ABOYI

LAGOS ZONAL VICE PRESIDENT

Yommy, as fondly called was born on 25th March, 1970 in Lagos and hailed from Ikorodu Local Government of Lagos State. He joined the service as Air Traffic Controller II on 6th November, 1998 at the completion of the Diploma in ATC from NCAT, Zaria.

A graduate of Geography and Planning from University of Lagos in 1994, he got trained in many areas of ATC and other related field such as: Diploma in Standard ATC from NCAT in November, 1998; TCAS course in March, 2003; Integrated Disaster & Emergency Management in April, 2004; Diploma in Area/Airways (non-radar) Control from NCAT in 2008 and Terminal and Area Radar Control from PAN AM International Flight Academy, Miami, USA (December, 2009).

Abayomi became a professional Air Traffic Controller on 18th February, 2000 after passing the ATC licensing examination resulting to Aerodrome and Terminal Approach (non-radar) control. In June, 2011, he got the rating in Area (non-radar) Control and Terminal Approach Radar Control in October, 2012. He has worked at different ATC units at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja Lagos. He is currently an Assistant General Manager working as Area and Terminal Approach controller at Lagos airport. He is married with children.

 

AGORO, ABAYOMI OMOTAYO

He was born on 20th August, 1967 in Gusau, Zamfara state.  He attended Tudun-Wada Primary School Gusau from 1974-1980; Government Science Secondary School, Gusau from 1980-1985; Bayero University Kano from 1986-1992 (B.Sc. in Chemistry).

Work experience include work at Teachers Service Board, Gusau between 1993-1997 before joining Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria as Air Traffic Controller Cadet and attended the Standard ATC course at NCAT, Zaria from 1997-1999; TCAS /ACAS course at Landover Lagos, 2003; RVSM seminar organized by ICAO at Sheraton Hotels, Lagos in 2004; Search and Rescue course in ATM at Otta, 2006; Area Airways Course (NCAT -Zaria) 2010. Approach Terminal and Area Radar course at PAN AM International Flight Academy, Miami, Florida USA in 2012;

Professionally, he got licensed as Aerodrome and Approach controller at MAKIA in 2000 and Area Control (non-radar) Rating in 2013. He has worked in Kano and Sokoto airport, but presently an Assistant General Manager at Kano airport and an Area (non-radar) Controller.

He was Public Relation Officer of NATCA Mallam Aminu Kano Airport Chapter between 2002 and 2005. He is Kano Zonal Vice President since 2010. He attended 52nd IFATCA conference at Bali, Indonesia in 2013.

Yakubu is married with children.

 

IDRIS, YAKUBU

Elisha was born at Gyel in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State on 9th August, 1974. He joined defunct Federal Civil Aviation Authority (FCAA) on 14th March, 1994 ass Air Traffic Control Assistant (ACA) after the completion of his secondary education at Zang Secondary Commercial School in 1993.

He commenced his career in ATC with the completion of ab-initio training at NCAT, Zaria in July 1997 and later Diploma in Standard ATC from the same college in April, 2001 as well as Diploma in Area/Airways (non-radar) Control in 2012. He got his ATC license with Aerodrome and Terminal Approach (non-radar) Control on 25th August, 2002 at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja Lagos. He has worked in Kaduna and presently an Assistant General Manager in Jos Airport working as Aerodrome and Terminal Approach controller.

He was Public Relation Officer of the Lagos Chapter of NATCA between October 2006 and March 2008. He was elected the Abuja Zonal Vice president of the national body in October, 2012. D’Dang is happily married with children.

DANGYANG, ELISHA DAVOU

Ogegs, as fondly called, was born on 7th of August, 1965 at Agbarho in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State. A 1989 graduate of Mathematics Education from the University of Port Harcourt joined the aviation industry as Air Traffic Controller II in the then Federal Civil Aviation Authority (FCAA) on 1st February, 1993.

 He went to Government College, Ughelli and obtained WASC ‘O’ Levels Certificate in 1980. After the degree and qualification as an Air Traffic Controller,   he obtained Masters in Bussiness Administration (MBA) from University of Calabar in 2002. Professional trainings included but not limited to, Diploma in Standard ATC from NCAT, Zaria (December, 1995); Certificates in TCAS II (July, 2004) and Basic Search and Rescue (September, 2004); Diploma in Area/Airways (non-radar) Control from NCAT, Zaria (November, 2006) and Terminal/Area Radar Control at PAN AM International Flight Academy, Miami USA (August, 2008).  He was licensed as professional ATCO on 17th August, 1997 as Aerodrome and Terminal Approach (non-radar) Controller at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja Lagos. His Area (non-radar) and Terminal Approach Radar Control ratings were in February 2008 and June 2011 respectively.

He has worked at various ATC units in Port Harcourt, Lagos and Benin Airports. He is now a Deputy General Manager at Port Harcourt Airport where he works as Terminal Approach Radar controller. Johnny is married with children.

OGEGERE, JOHNNY KEVWE

Ambuko’ was born on3rd May, 1968 at Odeh-Olumbanasa in Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State. He was enlisted into the service of the old Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on 18th April, 2000 after the completion of his Diploma in Standard ATC from NCAT, Zaria as ATCO II.

His earlier education took him to Christ the King College, Onitsha where he qualified with WASC ‘O’ Levels in 1983; Ordinary National Diploma from Ognashi Nku Polytechnic in 1985 and B.SC. in Education from university of Port Harcourt in 1994. Other ATC professional trainings included TCAS course (August, 2004); Certified Safety (February, 2006); Hijack Management (October, 2002) and Area/Airways (non-radar) Control from NCAT, Zaria (June, 2011). He obtained his ATC license in Aerodrome and Terminal Approach Control on 26th November, 2001 and Area (non-radar) control rating in view.

He is presently an Assistant General Manager and has worked as Aerodrome and Terminal Approach controller at Lagos and Port Harcourt airports. He currently works in Lagos airport as area (non-radar) controller.
In NATCA, he was Treasurer of the Lagos Chapter between 2006 and 2008. His marriage is blessed with children.

 

OCHEI, AMBROSE MBANEFO

He started his career in ATC on 6th November, 1998 after the completion of Diploma in Standard ATC at NCAT, Zaria and got employed as ATCO II in the old Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). An Assistant General Manager currently serving as Area (non-radar) controller in Kano Airport was born at Safo in Edati Local Government Area of Niger State on 8th August, 1968.

He attended Government College where he obtained his WASC ‘O’ Levels in 1988, National Certificate in Education (NCE) from College of Education, Minna (1992), B. Tech. Mathematics from Federal University of Technology, Minna (1995) and Post Graduate Diploma in Transport technology from Federal University of Technology, Owerri (2004).  Other trainings in ATC are Diploma in Area/Airways (non-radar) Control from NCAT, Zaria in 2008, Certificate in Terminal and Area Radar from PAN AM International Flight Academy, Miami USA (2011), TCAS II (August, 2004) and Management of Change (2006).

He was licensed on 18th February, 2000 at Port Harcourt airport as Aerodrome and terminal Approach controller. He later got rated in Area (non-radar) Control in October 2011 at Mallam Aminu Kano Airport, Kano where he presently works as an Area controller. He was promoted Assistant General Manager in 2010 and elected the association’s Treasurer in 2012. He is happily married with children.

SAFO, BABA JIYA

He was born on 14th November, 1967 in Jos, but hails from Ugbokolo in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State. He was educated at Mount St. Gabriel Secondary School, Makurdi (WASC ‘O’ Levels – 1986); University of Jos (B. Sc. Physics – 1994) and Federal University of Technology, Owerri (Post Graduate Diploma in Transport Technology – 2004).

He was employed into ATC on 6th November, 1998 as ATCO II after the completion of the Standard ATC Course at NCAT, Zaria in the old Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. He was later trained in Area/Airways (non-radar) Control at NCAT, Zaria in 2010 and Terminal and Area Radar Control at PAN AM International Flight Academy in 2011. He was licensed as Aerodrome and Terminal Approach controller at Port Harcourt airport on 18th February, 2000 and got rated for Area (non-radar) control on June 21, 2012. His Terminal Approach Radar control rating is in view.  

He has previously worked in Port Harcourt and Owerri airports, but currently in Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja Lagos as Area (non-radar) controller. He was elected as the NATCA’s Public Relation Officer in October, 2012. He is married with children.

ABAH, DOMINIC ODEH

The immediate past national president of the association from 2006 to 2012, Haske was also Assistant General Secretary and General Secretary of the national body between 1998 to 2000 and 2000 to 2003 respectively. He was born on 23rd November, 1968 in Tudun Wada in Nasarrawa Local government Area of Kano State. He was employed as Assistant Air Traffic Controller (ACA) on 23rd December, 1987 at the defunct Civil Aviation Department (CAD) under the old Federal Ministry of Transport.  
He attended federal Government College, Azare, Bauchi State for his School Certificate (1986), Lagos State University, Ojo for Post Graduate Diploma in Transport Management (2004). The career in ATC commenced with ab-initio course at NCAT, Zaria in 1998 and later proceeds for the Diploma in Standard ATC course at the same college and completed same in June 1994. Other trainings included Diploma in Area/Airways (non-radar) Control from NCAT, Zaria (December 2004); Terminal Approach Radar Control& Team resource Management at ATNS Academy, Johannesburg South Africa (August 2006); Area Radar Control at Pan AM International Flight Academy, Miami USA (February 2008); Basic PANS OPS/PHX Software (September, 2002); GNSS Procedures (May 2004); GNSS Implementation (February 2004); AFI RVSM & CNS/ATM at NCAT, Zaria (February 2007); Project Management (July, 2011); Airspace Planning and Aviation Management at Global for Aviation, Cairo Egypt (September 2011) and many others.

He got licensed as Aerodrome and Terminal Approach (non-radar) controller on 23rd October, 1995, Area (non-radar) Control rating in January, 2007 and Terminal Approach Radar Control rating in June, 2011. He has worked in Kano and Lagos airports. He is currently Deputy General Manager Technical Evaluation and Manpower Development at the Headquarters of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Lagos. He is happily married with children.
